I pledge to not use or accept any single-use produce bags even if they’re labeled compostable or biodegradable. Instead I will bring my own reusable produce and fruit bags when shopping for food. These are widely available online and in local stores.
Household food waste is incinerated, which means the chemicals produced from burning the bags wind up in the environment.
Food scraps can sometimes be composted with biodegradable bags, so please be sure to adhere to your town or curbside hauler’s guidelines. Please also take our other zero waste pledges.
