Plan Zero Waste Events

zero waste events

I pledge to plan zero waste events that rely on washing and reusing everything and avoiding anything that’s single use or made from plastic.

Redeem Deposit Containers

I pledge to redeem all deposit bottles and cans I buy, or otherwise use, at redemption centers to ensure they are recycled.

Drink Sustainable Wine

Scout-Cellar clean-crafted wines

I pledge to only buy and serve sustainable wine, which means wine made from organically or biodynamically grown grapes, wine labeled sustainable, or wine vinified in accordance with USDA Organic standards or Demeter Certified Biodynamic standards.

No Bug Zappers

I pledge to not use any electronic bug zappers in my yard because they have been found to kill very few mosquitoes while killing thousands of beneficial insects.

Zero Waste Gifts

zero waste gift

I pledge to not buy plastic gifts or trinkets that don’t have value beyond the day’s celebration. Instead I will buy edible gifts with zero waste packaging or gifts that are high-quality, durable, repairable and timeless so they can be enjoyed for a lifetime.

Buy Local Food First

I pledge to make a farm or farmers market my first destination for eating in season and living a local-sustainable lifestyle. I will choose local food first for the freshest, most nutritious and delicious food that sustains us and our farmers while supporting the local economy and building food resiliency.

No Single-Use Gift Wrap

I pledge to not use paper or other single-use gift wrap. Instead I will use reusable fabric gift wrap that I make or purchase.

Carry Your Own Cutlery

I will not purchase, accept or distribute plastic cutlery. Instead I will carry my own reusable cutlery, preferably wrapped in a cloth napkin, to avoid single-use plastic and compostable bio-plastic cutlery.
